Meán Fómhair ~ Autumn Equinox (and a One Year Anniversary of our Story and Song nights!)
A Night of Feasting, Story and Song for the Autumn Equinox
Join us for an Autumnal Equinox feast, an evening filled to the brim with celebration, story and song, to mark the turning wheel of the year!
Meán Fómhair is the Irish name for the 9th month of the Gregorian calendar (which we call September). It translates directly to the middle harvest, as the Autumnal Equinox falls in the heart of the harvest season, the grand span from Lughnasadh to Samhain. After offering thanks and libations for the first fruits, the Equinox calls us to look at our abundant larders, and begin to notice that which will need to be stored for the long dark ahead.
This will also be our 13th gathering for nights of story and song, hosted by Animist West County (Chaise, Chiara, russell and Helen). So Meán Fómhair will mark the one year anniversary of these gatherings, and will be the first in a second spin around the wheel of the year, in which we continue to take stock of the wonder and beauty of what has been and look forward towards that which will arise in this new arc. Thank you to each and everyone who has joined us around the fire, nurturing this culture of aliveness, reconnection, and deep rooted solidarity.
We hope to see you all under the Oak in the Golden Autumn night.
