Reminder and Location Change~ Imbolc: Brigid’s Emergence from the Dark ~
An Eve of Story and Song from the Celtic Isles at Green Valley Farm and Mill
Mythic dear ones!
The land is emerging, in fits and starts, from the deep Cailleach time as the flame of life awakens in the soil. The time of Brighid is dawning and we will gather to stoke the flames. Something in these times calls us to gather together and fan the embers of the world we long to see thrive, against all odds.
A reminder we will be celebrating the Imbolc this Saturday, February 1st, 3:30 - 8:30
We would love to see you, but please do stay home if you are feeling unwell.
Please, please bring layers to keep yourself bundled and warm. We will be in the Barn at Green Valley Farm and Mill, with access to the heater but it is always good to be prepared! Original invitation below:
Dear ones,
We invite you to gather around the fire with us this Saturday for:
~ Imbolc: Brigid’s Emergence from the Dark ~
An Eve of Story and Song from the Celtic Isles
Imbolc is a mid-point between the Solstice and Equinox, when Spring still rests inside the dark belly of Winter, gestating tender sprouts of fresh life. We gather in honor of the Celtic goddess Brigid, as Imbolc marks for some the shift from the wintry hag-goddess Cailleach to the return of warmth and light.
We will invoke ancestral myth and Imbolc tradition from ancestral Europe, calling on these ley-lines of ancient lore to help us metabolize the confusion and grief of these times. We will weave ~Brigid crosses~ out of reeds and willow, a traditional Imbolc practice. These crosses made in honor of the many-faced goddess were hung over doorways and in houses on Imbolc to invoke protection.
May these old stories and songs light our inner fires as we gather in solidarity to build earth-based networks that invite us into healthy, reciprocal land stewardship!
